Fix Laptop Not Charging

Before buying a battery or charger, work through these simple checks.

Follow these steps

1

Check the wall socket and try a different socket if possible.

2

Inspect the charger cable and connector for heat, bends, loose parts or damage.

3

Disconnect the charger, hold the laptop power button for 20 seconds, then reconnect power and try again.

4

If the battery is removable, shut down, remove it, connect the charger and test whether the laptop powers on.

5

Open Windows battery settings and check whether charging is paused at a battery-protection limit.

6

If the charger LED turns off when connected, stop using it and seek professional help.
